Privacy Policy
This policy describes how information is handled in connection with digital book purchases and reading at absolutefreedom.us. Seller and support details: see section 9.
1. Information we handle
When you buy a book or request access, we handle the email address associated with your order, the language edition purchased, purchase and payment status, transaction identifiers, the country of residence you select on our website before payment, the billing country reported to us by Stripe, and information needed to provide your library access and respond to support requests. Country-related data is collected in two steps: you first select your country of residence on our website, and we store that selection with your order; Stripe then collects your billing address during checkout, and our system receives and stores from Stripe only the billing country, not your full billing address. We may receive payment confirmation and refund information from Stripe. If you contact us, we handle the information you provide in that correspondence.
We do not ask you to create a password for My Library. A purchase link or a one-time email sign-in link is used to establish access. Do not forward personal access links to others.
2. Payments and delivery
Stripe processes card payments. Card details are entered into Stripe's checkout, not into our book library. Stripe may process payment and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy terms. We receive the information needed to confirm a payment, identify the purchased edition, deliver access, and process any refund.
Following a confirmed purchase, we send an order confirmation and personal My Library link to the purchase email. A requested sign-in link is sent to that same address; requesting one does not grant access just by knowing an email address. Book files are delivered through private, time-limited download access after an entitlement check.
3. Cookies and device storage
A book-language cookie remembers your EN/RU selection so the chosen language appears on the first page load. The site also stores the language choice in your browser's local storage. My Library stores an access credential in local storage on the device you use. Reading preferences (font size, line spacing, margins, theme), bookmarks, and your reading position are saved in your browser's local storage and, while you are signed in to My Library, also synchronized to our cloud database so you can continue on another device. The cloud copy is linked to your purchase email and the purchased edition and is available only through a verified access credential for that edition; the local copy remains as a fallback when you are offline. A saved access credential can enable access on that device until it expires or the purchase is revoked. Protect your device and clear site data if it is shared.
Payment and email providers may use their own necessary technologies under their respective notices. The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies; if such use is ever introduced, it will be reviewed and disclosed before it starts.
4. Why we use information
We use information to process and verify orders, provide the correct language edition, send transactional emails, protect access to paid books, respond to customer requests, handle refunds and disputes, and maintain records required for business, tax, and legal purposes. We do not describe transactional emails as marketing consent.
5. Providers and disclosure
We use the following service providers, which process customer information only as needed for their role:
Stripe — payment processing, fraud prevention, and refunds. Stripe receives the card and billing details you enter in checkout and acts under its own privacy policy for its own legal obligations.
Lovable Cloud — website hosting, the order and entitlement database (purchase email, edition, payment identifiers, status, and hashed access tokens), synchronized reading data (reading position, bookmarks, and reading preferences per purchased edition), sign-in links and sessions (stored only as hashes), and private storage of the book files.
Lovable's transactional email service — delivery of order confirmations and sign-in links from noreply@notify.absolutefreedom.us; it processes the recipient email address and message content.
These providers may process customer information in the United States and in other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. We do not represent that all customer information is stored exclusively in the United States, and international transfers of information may occur in the course of providing our services. Our initial sales territory is the United States only. Before we expand sales into new international markets, we will review the additional privacy requirements and applicable transfer safeguards of those markets and update this policy as required. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights. We do not sell customer information.
6. Retention and safeguards
We retain order and entitlement records as needed to deliver purchases, resolve disputes, account for refunds, and meet applicable recordkeeping duties. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and cannot be reused; access sessions have limited duration. Local reading data remains in your browser until you clear it. Synchronized reading data (reading position, bookmarks, and reading preferences) is kept while the related purchase remains active. When a refund is completed, access to the refunded edition is revoked immediately, and all of that edition's synchronized reading data — including deletion markers — is deleted automatically 30 days later, unless applicable law requires otherwise. While a purchase remains active, removed bookmarks are kept only as deletion markers so other devices stop showing them, and are erased after 90 days. Order, payment, and refund records are kept separately from reading data and are not affected by this deletion. Order, payment, and refund records are retained for 7 years after the transaction, or longer where applicable law requires, and are then deleted or anonymized. This seven-year retention applies only to accounting and transaction records; it does not cancel, shorten, or otherwise affect an active customer's purchased-book entitlement or My Library access, which continue for as long as the purchase remains active.
Access to paid files is checked against an active purchase before a temporary file link is issued. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure; if you suspect misuse of a personal link, contact the seller through the approved support channel.
7. Your choices and rights
You can change language in the site header and clear saved language, reading progress, and access credentials through your browser settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or other control over your personal information, subject to applicable exceptions and recordkeeping obligations. To submit a request, use the support contact in section 9. You can remove locally stored reading data by clearing site data; to delete synchronized reading data from our cloud database, contact support.
8. Changes
Material changes to this policy will be communicated as required by applicable law.
